Rumor of the day: New PSP Restricted Color

ProPaintball.com insiders are reporting that the PSP will be making yellow a restricted color for 2010. Teams take note, this means that your jerseys and equipment cannot contain the color yellow.

We have a few emails out and will update you with further details as they become available.

Update: Lane Wright from the PSP has confirmed that this will be official in the comments below. Remember folks, you heard it first on ProPaintball.com!

sweet! Thanks Justin. I better get a gold sample! And make the new XSV jersey gold over yellow!!! Bet we will see yellow paint only events soon.

  2. Captain Martin is...uh oh says:

Ryan Martin is screwed. He needs a new undershirt lol.

  3. Kai says:

    So Joy can’t play now?

  4. CMPB44 says:

no shit….what about infamous, xsv, joy, or any other team that is recognized by their colors.

  5. Sam says:

infamous is black and white now and sicker than ever.

  6. Pro Teams says:

Do Infamous, XSV, Joy or any other team want to pay to have the staining paint cleaned up after every event? Or do they expect all the other teams to pay for their colors?

  7. Vicious says:

If I won’t be able to use my Vicious Ego now, I’m gonna be pissed!

  8. Vicious says:

Does this mean I won’t be able to use my Vicious Ego? I’m gonna be pissed if this is true!

  9. Blake says:

    This is soo freakin stupid

my team just had our jerseys printed!!!!!

Who the Fu** is gonna pay to redo our jerseys!!!!

So freakin pissed…. Stupid stupid stupid!!!

What about all the res of the teams that use yellow in the designs aswell

at the very least PSP should HD this rule off for another season!! That way they don’t screw over the little guys. And it will give people time to change

coming out with a rule like this 2 and a half months before the season starts. Such bs

PSP. You get a giant middle finger from me and my whole team!!!

    Fix this!!!

    • Justin says:

      Hey Blake!

Not to worry yet.. I have heard they may be putting this rule change off for the time being. This is just a rumor that they are considering it. We are waiting to hear back from the PSP for official confirmation or denial.

      Stay tuned…

  10. Lane says:

Firstly, to Justin. The rule is not being put off. The verbiage is being finalized.

Secondly, Blake we definitely don’t do things with the intent to hurt any team, especially the “little guys:.

The fact is that we cannot continue to shoot pink paint or the orange paint that turns pink. It stains everything and makes it impossible for us to go to some venues and costs us more than we can pay to repair others.

Yellow paint is what will be provided at the events and as such will be far and away the predominant color being shot. Obviously, we can’t expect refs to do their job if yellow paint is hitting yellow loaders, guns, masks, and clothing.

There was no intent to hurt anyone. But without venues and reffing, there are no tournaments. The change has to be made. No matter when the change would have been made, someone would have just bought their new yellow jersey or gun or something.

Sorry for the issues it will cause some, but it is the best decision for the whole.

    • Blake says:

      Lame

Just another way to make people spend money they don’t need to

It’s a smack in the face!!!!!

U guys need to make more of a buffer when u change Major rules!!!

Well if u guys do put this in effect. My team has no choice We will be boycotting the PSP

Can’t afford to design and make another set of jerseys because u tools deciding on addin a major rule 2 months before the first tourney!!!

Fu**. PSP and the horse they rode in on!!!!

      • As a PSP player says:

I hope you do not show up as I bet you and your team are not good for the sport.

      • Bezerk86 says:

Blake, my guess is that you picked yellow jerseys because most people shoot yellow paint. that way it’s easier for your team to get away with a hit. That’s the reason that most people chose that color. If you had a gun deal I could understand. My guess is that your a newcomer to the PSP because most established teams are still in the prosses for finalizing a deal for the season and waiting till all the new decisions are done for the up coming year just find another closeout deal

    • john c. says:

please send an email as our team will have to spend some money on new jerseys due to the 2010 rule change. ty. ironjohn21@yahoo.com

  11. L4L says:

With that attitude I think the PSP will be better off without your team….no need to be such a little bitch

  12. NStoer says:

Blake stop whining and buy cheap longsleeves, it doesn’t matter when PSP releases this information, teams will get screwed because of it. That doesn’t lessen the necessity of having this done.

  13. thanks says:

    for the explanation lane.

looking forward to a good season. (and yes, my team uses yellow as a color)

    Not a huge problem.

  14. Lane says:

Sorry you feel that way. As you were typing this reply, I was trying to reach out to you and see if I could help you and your team get a deal on jerseys. I was just about to send an email to you with an offer. Glad I read this first.

And being that you brought it up, we are trying to keep EVERYONE from spending money they don’t need to in the long run.

When we lease a venue for $40K and then have to spend $15K to clean it up and repaint it, who the hell do you think ultimately pays for that?

So pay for a new set of jerseys now and support the sport or we can all pay to repaint buildings, utility poles, cars, houses, road signs, and parking lots forever. It isn’t that hard of a decision when you actually know what the choices are.

Maybe in the future, everyone should try to understand the issue before you pick a side.

  15. Blake says:

I understand both sides of the situation. My problem is the timing.

If this was posted 2 weeks ago it could if saved me alot of grief

And to the ignorant haters. It’s my view and feelings on the subject. I’m sure some other teams are in the same situation as mine. I just happened to step up and say something .. I’m sry when something affects me. And my team I’m not just gonna lay Down and take in in the butt!!!

I voice my views and I may or may not be heard … Not doin anything isn’t gonna help me or my team

Lane. If u truely wanna help. Gimma a email
I just paid 500bux for nine jerseys

    lucidvtec@yahoo.com

    • Garrett says:

I think the damage has been done bro

    • As a PSP player says:

Please play somewhere else you seem like you are not a good person or team. We that love the PSP are working to build the league and you sure don’t seem like you have that in mind. Make the PSP a better place and just don’t come to the great events.

A player that loves what the PSP does for us.

  16. banana says:

wow dude calm down. you aren’t the only one affected by these calls. life goes on, it’s not that big a deal. yea you just spent money, but even if they had stated this on the day you had finalized your design you would’ve complained that now you had to go back and change all your designs.

honestly, when you saw yellow fill from DXS at cup it should’ve been a sign that it might be illegal in the coming year.

  17. Pinknee says:

Is any yellow allowed or none at all?

  18. gogetter says:

The leagues make changes on all kinds of things each year. So another Idea is before designing your jersey, maybe shoot and email to someone at the PSP and get confirmation that there is not a restricted colors for the 2010 season. I think that’s what I would have done before dropping $500 on Jerseys.

Thank you PSP for doing the things it takes to stay in business and to keep the cost down and not raising the prices, just to cover the cost to clean up after us retards blasting are guns at each other. That’s why I love this Leagues and the guy above should be ashamed of himself for being suck and A-hole Really dude get over yourself.

  19. Kevin says:

Blake, you could always use your yellow jerseys at your practices, getting thrashed and stained at unofficial events where people shoot whatever is out there, where you get holes from slides and what-not. Then come a PSP event, put on your fresh new jerseys that Im sure you’re going to have to have made after reading what Lane said.

    Just a thought.

  20. Cupcake says:

Blake, your local 3man tourney series will probably allow you to wear yellow still. I dont think you actually play national events… so this shouldnt be a problem for you.

  21. Scott says:

The decision is the correct decision. The timing is questionable. Most people noticed that all of the paint at Cup was yellow. Most intelligent people read the writing on the wall. But we are talking about paintballers here! The PSP would have done better to release this information right after cup.

  22. blake says:

    wow….people really don’t understand

the timing was my biggest issue….most people try to plan ahead…you know

i actually just got something worked out with the jersey people…so yay for me and my team!!!!

to some of the people that just wanna talk crap instead of sayin or doing anything constuctive….i don’t really wanna stoop to ur level and talk crap back and forth….but i will say

what about the noobs…the people that are not so seasoned to paintball….i didn’t play world cup…..hell i haven’t played any national events….but this year my team and myself are making the leap to go national…and you know what…it’s not cheap..sure we have a couple of sponsors…but i don’t have no free ride or rich daddy to pay for all my stuff….i work hard for my money and work extra hard just so i can afford this sport….i love it

and now some kids are talkin trash because i brought out a point

the timing is a little off…it’s not like they haven’t known that the colors of paint stain and what not….this wasen’t the first season of PSP…..i’m sure they have been paying these damages every event…..so why not be more public about these challeges…i’m sure if they asked for volunteers for events…and let people know it would truely help the sport grown and may even lower entry fees….you would get a TON of help

again my main issue was the timing….with the first event 2 and half months away…seriously …like i said..it doesn’t effect alot..but it deffiently affects people

it could of been managed alot better

so i’m sorry for being so brash in my earlier posts…but honestly i was upset…nothing wrong with voicing my opinion…..i just hope the people that run PSP can understand how some decisions and timing of their rule changes can affect the little guys….or ‘noob’s’

ps…to the people telling me i suck or shouldn’t play in the league….that’s actually the kinda attitude that hurts the sport

  23. Booty juice says:

hey bra, there’s always dye. I’m sure taking some of it to your jerseys in the wash would make that yellow a different shade.

It cost about 2 bucks and works through more then 9 jerseys….even stays on your hands if you’re an idiot.

Just a thought, no need to bad mouth or get your fist pumps out in a battle.

  24. Nick says:

Leopard i4′s too? If so I’m screwed.

  25. Beast Coast says:

But what about the Brazilian Horse’s signature yellow I4′s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  26. jr says:

this blows. Our team had just did our eqipment change as well as jerseys. Our team colors are yellow/black. Really this rumor/rule is stupid. This year is yellow, next will be orange, green and whatever. Last time was pink with a good reason. Your basically taking the most used color in paintball away. Bs. I hope psp realizes that most teams will not repay for new equipment and jerseys. This rule should have been made at the end of last season not at the beginning of a new one. Jmo. Camille give me a holla..

    • Scott says:

You can have yellow on your jersey. Just don’t be offended if the ref tells you to turn it inside out so he can do his job effectively.

  27. Blake says:

    Again people

it was the timing that gets me!!!

My jersey problem is already taken care of

If u actually think about it. The people that run PSP knew they were gonna do this… Only selling yellow fill at world cup. They should of made this know shortly after. Not right before registration

It sux for some people. Plain and simple. I’m not the only one. I just happen to be the first one to stand up and say something

I do feel bad for sayin F u. To psp. My bad. And I’m sorry for that… I just wish they wouldn’t throw such a curveball so late in the game

Lane. My bad. Seriously. I’m sure you can understand where I’m coming from…. I could of handled myself better than that

    Blake

    • Puzuma says:

Timing? WAH!! Sure 2 weeks earlier might have helped you, but what about the team that bought yellow gear 2 weeks before you did?

Suck it up buttercup, at least it wasn’t announced 2 days before hand.

  28. sharpie says:

does this mean orange will become legal?

if so, im fine with it.

  29. Birdman says:

wow does this blow major poop! i just finished making 150 jerseys for my teammates all of which are yellow!
ive even painted my car and house yellow in support of my team “The World Famous Canarys”

this is gunna be a major setback to all of my flock.

i never thought the day would come that my jerseys would become more endangered then the yellow bellied canary himself.

shame on you psp, for you have put a damper on not only the first flight of my birds, but also left no birdseed for them to fight with…

heres my email if you want to send me sunflower seeds, or birdseed.

    YellowMyEggo@hotmail.com

p.s(birdseed has sunflower seeds in it… so ethier one is fine)

  30. Simon says:

I think the move to make yellow a restricted colour is a good one, but the timing of some rule changes needs to be thought about.

I have no doubt this is being done with the right intentions, but for major rule changes maybe there should be a period of time from when they are announced to implemented.

For instance announce, this rule now and it will be implemented next year so those that make and own yellow guns, jerseys, goggles, hoppers, etc. have time to change them, and so they can prepare for the season after without getting Jersey’s or products made with yellow in them etc.

Implementing rule changes that have a major effect on the industry, teams and players, should be done as far in advance as possible, and time should be allowed for those changes to implemented.

Making new rules just before the season starts isn’t good for the industry and players. The industry needs time too, to avoid making products of getting huge stock of products that they won’t be able to sell because of rule changes or that will need updating.

I know many of these rule changes are thought about a long time ahead of when they are implemented.

Maybe state that now that the rule is coming and will be implemented for 2011 season?

  31. Gilbert says:

This is going to hurt Vicious. They’re limited 25 run of vego 10s are now all useless.

    Lamo.

  32. Brendan says:

Lane, is there any confirmation on whether this will be a strictly jersey thing or everything containing yellow? Because I just spent $900 on my XSV Geo and it will suck pretty bad if I can’t use it.

  33. Randy Norcross says:

Good move considering what Lane outlined as the reasons. It’s not to screw over any teams. It’s to protect the league from the staining and damage done by paint ruining personal and public property. If you have been around a while you know exactly what happens and why the decision was made. Some paint stains everything from concrete to steel, cars to jerseys.

Yes it will be an issue for some teams, sorry that happened.

  34. tremis says:

Seems like this could have been dealt with between the PSP and paint manufacturers. Back in the day when red paint was the only outlawed color, I remember the rules strictly prohibiting staining paint. Didn’t matter the color, it just couldn’t stain. I have a hard time believing that that paint manufacturers physically cannot make non-staining paint in any color but yellow.

  35. Bull says:

    Lane,

I agree with resticting the color, but the timimg could of have been better. If the league was planning to change the color back in World Cup then it could of been leaked out in rumor mills to follow a finalized ruling by the end of the year to allow for teams to purchase gear and desisgning of jerseys. This would also help the manufactures keep up with the demand and not waste unwanted products.

On another note, what about older markers? I own an 08 Vicious dust yellow and chrome. Will markers like that similiar in color be allowed?

  36. Mamu says:

How about gold and other metallic yellowish colors? It would suck a, if our egos would have to be taped/painted/whatever.

  37. Does any one in pb actually read? says:

Wow, I honestly don’t think some of you people actually read…. If you read the WHOLE e-mail/ announcement you would then see Yellow is a “RESTRICTED COLOR”… Not a “BANNED” color…

The e-mail states HOW MUCH, WHAT SIZE and such in regards to using yellow on a jersey… It’s not BANNED!

So for all that are complaining, reread the e-mail, and then e-mail Tim. HIS EMAIL IS IN THE PSP MASS E-MAIL… LOL…

  38. I need to know this says:

So does this mean that gold is still allowed to be used in psp tournaments? because i wanted to get the Dangerous Power FX in blue and yellow and now i cant, so can i get it in brown and yellow? please help me, i really need to know if i can or not
