PSP: Unified National & Regional RaceTo Format

Paintball Sports Promotions (PSP) has just released their 2010 affiliate program with other regional tournament series’ nationwide, along with a map depicting the locations in which these series will be held. Read on for the official statement released including dates and the regional map!

January 15, 2010 – Paintball Sports Promotions (PSP) is pleased to announce the creation of a network of affiliate regional tournament leagues that, along with the PSP, share the goal of introducing the “RaceTo” format to players throughout the country.

These affiliated leagues will work together to provide a consistent experience for players across leagues and divisions, as well as create a universal player ranking in conjunction with the APPA that fits both the regional and national levels.  Over time, this system will provide a national ranking for teams at every level across the United States, allowing a player to compare his/her team to those playing in other leagues on the other side of the country. As this system grows, the ability to rank teams will extend to ranking individual players.  For the first time, the sport will have a true national ranking for both categories, enabling players to measure themselves against competitors.

The affiliate leagues heading the 2010 Unified National and Regional RaceTo Format include:

Ryan Bosch, Arizona Paintball Players League (AZPPL), www.theazppl.com
Larry Motes, Carolina Field Owners Association (CFOA) Tournament Series, www.thecfoa.com
John Smith, Central Florida Paintball Series (CFPS), www.cfpsevents.com
Jeff Stein, New England Hurricanes
Lane Wright, Paintball Sports Promotions (PSP), www.pspevents.com
Carl & Karen Bortol and Greg Pauley, Vicious Series, www.pbnation.com/forumdisplay.php?f=531
Mike Hinman, West Coast Paintball Players League (WCPPL), www.wcppl.com

By partnering with these leagues and implementing player rankings, the sport of paintball will be unified from top to bottom, coast to coast.  This network will continue to pursue expansion across the country with the ultimate goal of creating a more unified sport.

This article was authored by Kyle Johnson – who has written 40 paintball news and gear articles.

Kyle was born into some unusual circumstances. His father, Arnold, a goat farmer, fled the Allied invasion of Germany and married a Finnish woman with whom he had 17 children. Kyle was the only one who survived childbirth. Kyle was born a twin, but he “resorbed” his twin while still in his mother’s womb. He believes that he now has the strength of a full grown man and a tiny baby. He claims to have been born weighing 13 lb 5 oz, rendering his mother incapable of walking for three months and two days. Kyle was shunned by his family between the ages of four and six for forgetting to save the excess oil from a can of tuna. He lost a grade school spelling bee by misspelling the word “failure” in front of the entire school, and subsequently lost the spelling bee to Raj Patel. Kyle is trained in the art of surveillance and is a former Lackawanna County volunteer sheriff’s deputy. He is also a purple belt in Goju-Ryu karate. He enjoys Battlestar Galactica, the Harry Potter franchise, The Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Lost and 24. His favorite movie is The Crow. Kyle lives on his family’s 60-acre beet farm, in a nine bedroom farmhouse with one bathroom, with his cousin Mose, where they grow table beets. On the weekends, Mose and Kyle spend their time selling beets to local stores and restaurants from their road side beet stands. As well as run a decently successful “themed” agritourism bed & breakfast. Kyle also likes paintballing and has an impressive array of weaponry, including laser tag equipment. He enjoys playing ping-pong and many of his heroes are olympic table tennis players. He is also known to be very good at the sport. His musical tastes vary, but classic rock is his favorite, especially when sung accapella. His personal musical talents are not lacking, as he plays guitar and recorder, and sings, which is quite impressive as Kyle has lost 12% of the hearing in his left ear because of a ninja attack. Kyle’s life goal is to become the pilot for Air Force One and an ambassador to Hawaii.

  3. Brules says:

Thats cool, maybe this will prompt a regional series to get started in this area….

  4. MW says:

The Vicious series has been pulling teams from 7 to 10 states the last 2 years.

    • Justin says:

Yeah the Vicious series is doing a great job. Hopefully as the economy begins to turn around and more players get involved with the sport another regional league will pop up to help fill the gap.

Less money spent on travel = more money to play paintball. :)

  5. sucks says:

This is a pretty exciting time for paintball. There is a Pro level league and a ton of regional events that can feed teams into the main series. I’m hoping this will be the remergence of new teams, not neccesarily spending all of their money to play the national circuit, but spending their money at their local fields and stores to play the regional series. Good work to all those involved.

  6. I think this is good says:

I think a young player now has a place to start with a clear path on how to get to the top.

D-5 all the way up to Pro.

    Good stuff

THIS IS THE BEST THING TO HAPPEN TO PAINTBALL IN MANY YEARS.
all the players of this invention should be proud. this is great for the sport. looks like the start of this new decade will be growing paintball and the leagues that Camille posted will all have something in common. the players can now know what to expect and rely on.

Badlandz not on board? This format would be a great way to run their failing 5man series. Way to go Ren.
