It was released today that the American Xtreme Paintball League (AXBL), the American league tied to the Canadian CXBL series, has announced that they will not be running their season in the U.S. and merely focusing on the growth of the CXBL this season.
Here is the statement released today regarding the matter:

This article was authored by Kyle Johnson – who has written 40 paintball news and gear articles.
Kyle was born into some unusual circumstances. His father, Arnold, a goat farmer, fled the Allied invasion of Germany and married a Finnish woman with whom he had 17 children. Kyle was the only one who survived childbirth. Kyle was born a twin, but he “resorbed” his twin while still in his mother’s womb. He believes that he now has the strength of a full grown man and a tiny baby. He claims to have been born weighing 13 lb 5 oz, rendering his mother incapable of walking for three months and two days. Kyle was shunned by his family between the ages of four and six for forgetting to save the excess oil from a can of tuna. He lost a grade school spelling bee by misspelling the word “failure” in front of the entire school, and subsequently lost the spelling bee to Raj Patel.
Kyle is trained in the art of surveillance and is a former Lackawanna County volunteer sheriff’s deputy. He is also a purple belt in Goju-Ryu karate. He enjoys Battlestar Galactica, the Harry Potter franchise, The Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Lost and 24. His favorite movie is The Crow.
Kyle lives on his family’s 60-acre beet farm, in a nine bedroom farmhouse with one bathroom, with his cousin Mose, where they grow table beets. On the weekends, Mose and Kyle spend their time selling beets to local stores and restaurants from their road side beet stands. As well as run a decently successful “themed” agritourism bed & breakfast.
Kyle also likes paintballing and has an impressive array of weaponry, including laser tag equipment. He enjoys playing ping-pong and many of his heroes are olympic table tennis players. He is also known to be very good at the sport. His musical tastes vary, but classic rock is his favorite, especially when sung accapella. His personal musical talents are not lacking, as he plays guitar and recorder, and sings, which is quite impressive as Kyle has lost 12% of the hearing in his left ear because of a ninja attack.
Kyle’s life goal is to become the pilot for Air Force One and an ambassador to Hawaii.

sucks. the AXBL seemed like a cool league
agreed. i heard that the hurricanes are starting an xball league in the NE area. is this true?
yes – Jeff is starting the Race – To – Stein league. From what I hear through the grapevine it will be off the hook. D3 and D4 race to. With the recent AXBL termination this should be the league to play in for all the teams in New England.
yep jeff stein is starting a race-to tournament series in that same area. except this league will actually communicate with its players. sign up.
I’ve worked with members of both the USA and Canadian NAX crews. They work tirelessly to bring everyone quality events week after week during the summer months. They are a finely oiled machine – if everyone only had a chance to see the magic behind the curtains!
This is very sad news. . . . .
There will be a very noticeable void in the paintball calendar this year.
Its sad to see the last league with a REAL xball format go
They talk a good game but in the end they dont talk to there players. Its there way or the high way.
Louie,
You sound like an idiot attempting to blame the players who are will throw tons of money into a league that offers nothing in return…nothing. We all love the sport of paintball and that is why we play. However, our enjoyment for this sport is driven by competition and the drive to win. Teams that win their conference receive nothing but a medal that can’t possibly exceed 5 dollars in cost. I can’t agree more how upsetting it is to see this FORMAT (not league) go but to blame this on the players during such a crucial time for our sport?
Way to go axbl, you’re proven to us that your legue is as crappy as we all thought.
Two years ago the AXBL held 5 events per season. Last year they dropped it to 4 event. This year the dropped it even further to 3. The AXBL never adjusted yearly fees ect.
That means I still pay the same amount for three events this year as I did for five events two years ago.
Does Canada think we’re economic idiots? Then they blame there withdrawal on event location complaints.
No wonder it failed!
FYI, those medals were worth ALOT more than $5. They were made of pewter or something like that. I was able to check them out before they were awarded a couple years ago.
RIP AXBL. It was a great league. Wish it could have lasted longer.
