This off season has been quite eventful in the means of the surfacing of rumors. As 2009 winded down, the meetings began for the 2010 season for both the USPL and PSP leagues and we’re beginning to wonder what changes will be made to each format for us to get used to. We keep ourselves in the loop so that we can keep the entire community informed as to what we might see up and coming. Check out the latest rumors freshly served.
PSP Rumor of the day: Word has it that the PSP is considering changing the restricted paint color to yellow as it “doesn’t stain grounds or bunkers as badly”. Don’t stress out, the PSP has a proven track record when it comes to communicating changes ahead of time via email announcements. Speaking of the PSP, they are considering moving back to 5 events. If so, the PSP must find the best locations for all five events because the money factor comes into play and enough revenue must be made at each stop to keep the league afloat to ensure more seasons to come.
USPL Rumor of the day: Sources tell us that the USPL is asking their pro team owners for another round of capitalization & 2010 entry fee’s. No word on what, if any, extra funding the league is looking for. Insiders feel free to leave it in the comments.
As far as the pro paintball teams go, we continue to hear reports from the field that teams are busy evaluating their current and prospective players and negotiating with their sponsors. As the 2010 season nears, it will be interesting to find out who will be playing where, and which players will find themselves teamless or lowering divisions.
This article was authored by Kyle Johnson – who has written 40 paintball news and gear articles.
Kyle was born into some unusual circumstances. His father, Arnold, a goat farmer, fled the Allied invasion of Germany and married a Finnish woman with whom he had 17 children. Kyle was the only one who survived childbirth. Kyle was born a twin, but he “resorbed” his twin while still in his mother’s womb. He believes that he now has the strength of a full grown man and a tiny baby. He claims to have been born weighing 13 lb 5 oz, rendering his mother incapable of walking for three months and two days. Kyle was shunned by his family between the ages of four and six for forgetting to save the excess oil from a can of tuna. He lost a grade school spelling bee by misspelling the word “failure” in front of the entire school, and subsequently lost the spelling bee to Raj Patel.
Kyle is trained in the art of surveillance and is a former Lackawanna County volunteer sheriff’s deputy. He is also a purple belt in Goju-Ryu karate. He enjoys Battlestar Galactica, the Harry Potter franchise, The Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Lost and 24. His favorite movie is The Crow.
Kyle lives on his family’s 60-acre beet farm, in a nine bedroom farmhouse with one bathroom, with his cousin Mose, where they grow table beets. On the weekends, Mose and Kyle spend their time selling beets to local stores and restaurants from their road side beet stands. As well as run a decently successful “themed” agritourism bed & breakfast.
Kyle also likes paintballing and has an impressive array of weaponry, including laser tag equipment. He enjoys playing ping-pong and many of his heroes are olympic table tennis players. He is also known to be very good at the sport. His musical tastes vary, but classic rock is his favorite, especially when sung accapella. His personal musical talents are not lacking, as he plays guitar and recorder, and sings, which is quite impressive as Kyle has lost 12% of the hearing in his left ear because of a ninja attack.
Kyle’s life goal is to become the pilot for Air Force One and an ambassador to Hawaii.

It’s a shame that the PSP had to drop to only four events this year. Definitely cool to hear that they’re going to have five again next year!
I don’t understand. If it doesn’t stain ground or bunkers as badly as other colours, why is it restricted?
No paint color is currently restricted other than pink and red. The rumor is that PSP will require yellow paint fill for events.
No more Phoenix United ..watch what happens especially if they have to pay more money
Should get smart and play PSP semi-pro. Good reffing, web cast and prize money.
bring back LA OPEN
that every LA open failed to get a lot of teams. if PSP does do another LA open we need to make sure to support it or it will go away again.
everyone says that its stupid for the pro teams to have to pay an upfront fee to be in the USPL. but the psp does the same exact thing just lets the teams pay in payments. and as far as phoenix united goes the last time i checked they were still playing pro uspl
uspl pro win what? nothing psp pros win over $10k each event. good one buddy
well dang if psp is trying to find any good places to have events I say Denver,Colorado because colorado hasent seen a majour paintball that involves speedball sence 2005 when the nppl was still in play…
Denver has a great draw – it can pull all the people from the extremely populated farmland and mountains extending 8 hours in any direction from the city.
Most people drive to the events. Denver is a victim of geography.
i agree, denver sucks
well denver actually colorado is populated with alot of paintballers…
why dont they switch to green paint…. it should blind in good with the green grass
Problem with midwest is they already have Chitown, a great venue. Denver.. maybe. I am thinking more of the Dallas / Houston but if they go in the middle of the season thats allot of high temps. What bout the NE? Jersey ? NY ?
Sure.. let’s go back to Houston… in September… and let’s cancel it at the last minute because of a hurricane. Oh wait! someone did that already!!! :)
Phoenix early march, Chi-town mid/end of April, Southeast in June, LA in August and Cup mid of October, would be my pick.
I would definitely move Chicago earlier in the season to avoid the 100+ degrees. Not that i don’t like seeing kids on Pepsi/pizza diet dropping like flies, but i don’t particularly like to sweat that much.
And could we please find another location than PB Central. I love the place but not for a national event…
They need to look to the west Seattle, SF, Oakland, Las Vagas. There is a lot of draw that could be leveraged by having another event in the western US.
What about having it in Tennessee, it basically the central hub of the south.
