DLX Rumor
It’s no secret that DLX’s parent company Smart Parts is undergoing a series of financial setbacks that have impacted its ability to function in the marketplace. With that being said, tournament players world wide have been wondering what the future holds for the Luxe, DLX’s flagship marker. With the slow economy, inventories of luxury items typically back up as buyers reign in their spending. Not so with the Luxe. If rumors serve us right, DLX has been unable to keep up with the demand for its premium paintball guns and they continue to fly off the shelves. With that being said, the rumor that follows may shock you.
Rumors have surfaced indicating that Dye Precision, maker of the competing DYE NT premium paintball gun and long time competitor of Smart Parts, has been contracted to manufacture the Luxe and help keep up with the demand. For what its worth, all signs indicate that DLX is still a completely separate company and is moving forward, full speed ahead. If true, this is good news. The DLX Luxe is by far and away one of the most popular paintball guns in the high-end market and we are happy to hear that they will continue to be available.
Please remember folks, this is a rumor. We have sent off emails to individuals within the different companies asking for further information and will update this story with additional information as it becomes available.

I’m just curious if they’ll be making another DLX gun or just stick with the Luxe finally allowing a paintball gun to hold its value for more than a season.
there has been a marker which lasted more than a season, actually there are two. The macdev droid and cyborg07
Interesting to see if a competitor is going to build the gun. Strange
wow. can’t say i saw this coming.
does this mean they are made overseas?
it either sounds like propaganda from dlx to make people think its outselling and very popular , or it really is selling. but subcontracting dye to make the markers? spoof. it costs dye $240.00 u.s dollars to manufacture the dm. so that means it will probably coast dye around that same amount to make the luxe in the same room in taiwan. if you ask me , dlx better lower the retail price if we are not getting the same american craftmanship as we were…..if the rumor is true ofcourse. not that taiwans process or machining is bad , because it truly is state of the art , but its that patriotic american worksmanship pride that surrounds dlx marketing and our lil hearts!!
The Luxe is hands down the best high end marker ever created. If you have ever shot one, you will be the first to agree. This company will stay in business due to the demand for these markers that to this day is growing. From a business standpoint it would be irresponsible to abandon and close the doors of a company thats main focus since created is to provide “red carpet” customer service for each individual Luxe owner. People who purchased 1500.00 paintball markers would be outraged if they could no longer be provided service for their high end markers…so hopefully whatever happens and whenever it happens someone with the customers in mind will step up and carry on the Luxe tradition.
LOL…. Obviously you have never shot a Planet Eclipse marker if you think the Luxe is “the best”…. Its a good marker probably SP’s best but its easily out classed by Planet’s guns…
Wow! Somebody actually said this!
If .50 cal is the future of paintball, a conversion kit similar to the one planet eclipse has been working on for the ego needs to be created for the luxe. No customer is going to be happy hearing that their 1500.00 marker is now useless and they must buy a .50 cal version (if one is ever created). If that is the case DLX will contradict everything they once stood for and it will be a wash, I can guarantee you that. It seems people in the “industry” often times jump ship in search of more money to feed their already large lifestyles, and when they do this they lose sight of what is truly important in the paintball industry….THE PLAYERS, and smaller guys who have not lost sight of what is important.
From a buyers perspective I would like to see the markers be manufactured and assembled in the U.S. but as a realist I know that times are tough and it is much cheaper to outsource labor. As long as the quality control is up to par and the markers are being tested and tuned when they arrive in the states, what is the problem behind outsourcing? If it means one of the best companies gets to keep producing a top of the line product that has made paintball much more enjoyable and simplistic, than the pros will outweigh the cons.
Couldn’t have said it better myself…I hope the DLX pulls through and stands true to its core values.
The 2 are associated. Smart parts hurting = dlx hurting.
i hope they can figure something out.
i know for a fact there selling like hot cakes. as for dye making them. that would be dumb. will have to wait and see.
Dunno how bad Smart Parts is doing. They still found the time and money to register yet another patent.
Title: Electrical control unit for paintball gun No.: 7,603,997 Inventors: Hensel, Edward (Fairport); Smith, David L. (East Aurora); Gaston, Raymond S. (Lancaster); Gardner Jr., William M. (Ligonier, Pa.); Gardner, Adam (Ligonier, Pa.) Assignee: Smart Parts (Loyalhanna, Pa.) Date issued: Oct. 20, 2009

Billy and Adam don’t have to find the time or money to file for another patent their father is a patent lawyer and if you look at the patent is another part of the original components of the PVI shocker
The patent was only issued recently, the application was filed a few years back already.
Filing Date:
04/02/2007
Anyway, the “invention” described in it would seem to cover most electro markers – will we see SP suing all the industry again? sheesh.
