Paintballs 2010 Offseason Rumors
There has been a flurry of activity in the rumor mill as the 2009 paintball season draws to a close. Teams are changing sponsors, players are switching teams and companies are trying to figure out what the heck they should do about .50cal and sponsorship for the 2010 season. This update is a big one so we have broken down the news into two sections. Read on for the latest paintball news and rumors.
Paintball Player and Team News:
- Jason “Fat Kid” Edwards is said to be joining Tampa Bay Damage for 2010 season. FK played with the team in Vegas and rumor has it he will be sticking around. Great pickup for Tampa Bay Damage!
- The Ironmen are looking to pick up some younger, faster players. Heavy rumors surround Dalton from VICIOUS and Sean McDonald. At the very least, two of the Ironmen’s currently salaried players are said to be on the chopping block to make room. Any guesses on who?
- The Philly Americans are said to be looking for a new sponsorship deal. Rumor has it they are asking for a considerable chunk of change. Good luck guys!
- San Francisco Explicit is rumored to be joining the PSP in 2010. Word is the team will be competing in the Semi Pro division. Awesome!
- Max Lundquist (Joy Division) will be playing with the Persian Legend in the third leg of the Iran Paintball League. The event will be hosted in the capital city, Tehran, Iran and should be interesting. If everything works out we should have a really cool event video to show you guys.
- NPPL released a press release after their meeting Monday reworking the rule regarding illegal guns (mechanical failures didn’t get warnings) and has withdrawn the suspensions doled out at the NPPL Vegas event. Looks like I’m not banned from paintball after all. Sorry Dan, you’re still an idiot. Speaking of ultimate judges, if the NPPL is serious about surviving they need to bring back Tom Cole. That man knows what he is doing.
Industry and Paintball Gear
- Several pro paintball teams have been trying out different paintball guns. With Smart Parts almost entirely out of the picture and Eclipse spread extremely thin with the number of teams they support, things could get interesting. This will definitely be a hot topic in the coming weeks.
- Master hunter Bob Long and John “digital” Amodea of PB2X fame have been hard at work on their online hunting magazine. Bob mentioned they have received extremely positive responses from online-retailer Cabelas and some of the largest ammo manufactures on the planet. Bows, Arrows, and big game hunting. Get some.
- Speaking of Bob Long, word is he has a .50cal version of the Victory that hes polishing up and getting ready to unleash.
- On that note, there is a .50cal pump gun in the works, our inside sources should have photos for us shortly.
- Rumor has it that a new Eclipse Geo will be hitting the streets during quarter 1 of 2010.

What’s the story behind you being banned? I was unable to attend the event and noticed it above:
“Looks like I’m not banned from paintball after all. Sorry Dan, your still an idiot.”
I think Billy Wing will step down and focus on more Dye work.
For the last position I’m not sure who they’d cut. I would say it’s between Scott Kemp, Jon Richardson, Nicky Cuba, or Mike Paxson (I think they’d keep him for his laning ability). I think they’d keep Oliver, Mikko, and Brandon.
But didn’t Slowiak from Aftershock say on the webcast that the PSP was considering expanding the rosters to up to 10 players?
I did say that, but that does not mean that teams have to have 10 players. It all comes down to cost. How much money do you think Dye has to put out to have all of its players on the Ironmen…?
Well, Ollie’s on a five-year contract that paid him 600 grand.
ollie does have a five year contract with dye but once all of that is up do you think he will stay with ironmen or will he try to join a diffrent team???
6 game suspension, see you later.
Rockstar Factory recieved 3 different 6 game suspensions at USPL Vegas. It was rediculous seeing them play with 4 players and still almost win. One was for a bouncing gun, which should be a warning, one was for overshooting a dynasty entourage player 4 extra times, which should be a 1 for one, and one was for a player getting blasted 20-30 times and no penalty was pulled on the other team so they took their pack off and tossed it.
To the fact the uspl/nppl is nothing more than a joke. I think Rockstar would be a very good semi-pro psp team. Give it a shot I bet you do well and have alot more fun. Oh you will also not have to deal with Dan and Chuck that should be enough to make the switch.
The penalties that Rockstar got were all after a win against the two teams that came in in 1st and 2nd. The “maliciuos” intent penalty went like this.
Entourage player is in Dorito 2, it’s 5 v 1, a Rockstar player on the dorito tape side shoots the Entourage player while another Rockstar Player is pushing the angle on the Entourage player from the sanke tape and shoots him from the carwash, four times. Is that over shooting.
So Squires yells “over shooting”, the reff, which he later came up w/ plenty of excuses why the cal on the field was changed to malicious intent, says to the Rockstar Player, “You over shot the Entourage player but you stopped. I’m gonna pull a 1-4-1 for over shooting and RS gets the game w/ 3 bodies alive not 5.”
10 minutes later RS get a malicious intent and 6 game. My favorite part about this is that Squires says”I have nothing against rs, all I want is consitancy from dc.” Well if any saw what hapened to Tony Savage in dc, then look at the “overshooting” of the Entourage player from Vegas… It would make one wonder…
The gun penalty, the ref said “idk, It’s ramping or something….” And then gave the penalty that he saw “fit”.
The last one for throwing a pack… The RS player was torched by HK. So when a Ref as asked why there was not an overshooting or malicious intent called on HK the answer was “Too many people were shooting the rs player and so I didn’t know who to give the penalty to…..” so the RS player threw his pack, and that is a three game……
and that is the abrreviated story of RS’s recording breaking event accumulating a total of 15, 15 game suspenstions…. We need a paintball book of records! LOL!
This is why RS should play the PSP in 2010. They will also be a strong team they have the talent for Race2.
IT would be great for RS to be able to play psp next season. It really comes down to yearly budgets and sponsors, not just with team sponsors but also with the psp and what they will alllow teams to use…
Dan maybe an idiot, but if they got rid of Berger, the show field ref, then these failing subjective gun penalties would have never happened. Shooting 3 pods to see if a marker has mechanical bounce is a joke, plain and simple.
The reff’s ran 6 pods through the Explicit marker……
Hey if we shoot like 1000 paintballs maybe we can get this gun to bounce once and screw this team. Way to go nppl. Glad we are not playing in that league anymore.
Pretty clear that Berger really screwed the event, the reputation of the series, teams, and manufacturers with those completely weakass subjective illegal gun penalties he made.
Funny how one person can lead to all the crap that went down at Vegas. Proof that the USPL/NPPL decided to modify the penalties accessed, because they were bogus in the first place.
And yes, Dan is still an idiot to make thing worse by having blinders on during the bullshit calls Berger made.
“Sorry Dan, your still an idiot.”
Ah, irony.
FK is a beast
i think the ironmen will let go pax and skemp…
billy played some awesome paintball through the season so it would be foolish to let him go.
the only thing i could think of is that if they were going to pick up dalton they might drop brandon because i personally didn’t see a lot of production coming from him the past two events…
I can see Scotty getting dropped, but I’d imagine Jon would be benched before Mike.
Hope he stays with Vicious. Solid organization.
I have known Dalton a long time and he seemed like he really had fun with vicious this last year. Its good to see players having fun.
pbv and cep join together
any word or rumors DLX for 2010?
don’t want to see any of the men go,i played with short and paxson in the cxbl this year and won the richmond cup along side short, both are extremely talented and very smart players. With that said i think the men just need to regroup and double there efforts
and we will see them on top again.
Any word on new markers coming out? Last year, we had the Creed, the Luxe, DM9, Ego9, Geo…it seems awfully quiet this year.
OMG i laughed so Hard “sorry Dan your still an Idiot” I think this about once a year and i dont even play anymore Lol.
