Arsenal quits the AXBL!

arsenalAccording to a statement released by Tom Fore, DC Arsenal has officially withdrawn from the AXBL. Arsenal had been scheduled to compete against Rochester Rhythm in a highly anticipated matchup at AXBL’s event 4 at All American paintball park. Word has it that Rhythm received notice early enough that they were able to turn around the majority of their players. Read on for the official statement from Tom Fore explaining the teams departure and the latest rumor from the Arsenal camp.

Update: There is a rumor going around that DC Arsenal may be competing at PSP World Cup!

Yes, it is true that we have decided to withdraw from the AXBL for many reasons. The AXBL has had some nice events with good referees, however, it is just too difficult for us to get ARSENAL players to go to these events (8 hours away) due to practice and event conflicts, therefore, we have had to send friends, practice players, a few core guys. We will continue to focus on Europe and USPL. WE ARE NOT HAVING MONEY ISSUES in any way, shape or form. Leaving early was not what we wanted to do, however, we have evaluated our options and this makes good sense. We wish everyone in the AXBL the best and we hope for their continued success.

they should’ve sat down and looked into if they could commit before the season started. i believe this to be very unprofessional. sorry, just my opinion.

if they play cup awesome, hope the best for Arsenal. i have alot of respect for those guys but they did lose a bit from me for leaving mid-season.

  2. AXBL player says:

Completely wrong shoe, this league we play in AXBL is a worthless league. You pay and pay for paint, travel and for what, no prize money at each event, if your lucky enough to win the overall AXBL you win like $6g’s and you’ve spent $25g’s to do it……….do the math, it’s not worth it, the owner is making all the money, the teams are crapped on. I can’t play USPL or PSP but would if I could.

not sure. i play NCPA and we don’t win anything either.

  4. Ridiculous says:

What i don’t think most of the people commenting on this subject fail to realize is Tom and arsenal joined this league directly after the demise of nppl thinking that there would be no more 7 man and after talks w other trams they created the uspl which arsenal and Tom fully support. They of course did there best to fit around event scheduling but sometimes it doesn’t work…I think Tom did the right move but he probably should have Of done it a little sooner that’s all. Why put money and effort into a regional league with a small pay out when you have your own national league that you’ve put thousands of dollars into and need to attend too? People need to think a little harder people will be mad but to lose respect over someone for this is dumb axbl isn’t a national league it’s a small east coast league it might get bigger but why worry about a small league when your trying to keep a bigger league afloat he just put too many eggs in one basket

I’d say he spread his eggs into to many baskets – not all in one basket. However, Tom stated very clearly that MONEY was not the issue. Arsenal knew the costs upfront, new the venues upfront and new the schedules up front (While the venue for the finals was not announced upfront the dates were posted on the AXBL Calendar up front). There was no surprises here – other then he couldn’t get his players to commit to attending events. In the end the London event falls on the same weekend as the NAX Finals and (assuming they made finals) he didn’t want to send a sub par team to the NAX Finals. He could have saved his spot though. Two of the Ohio kids wanted to play. Tim from All A’s said he had two MXL guests for them – they only need one other rostered player to show up and they would have saved their spot for next year – sold it off, used it, what ever they wanted to do. Oh yeah – and not had all their players banned.

However, it would appear that all the players on that squad now got the RSJ (Royal Screw Job) and are banned from the AXBL. I feel bad for the kids they picked up for Event three (I think out of Ohio) – they got the biggest RSJ. I can only hope that Mitch and company take care of those two or three players from Ohio.

    RE: AXBL Player

The payout for the AXBL is alot more than $6k. Also, I believe you get more for winning the NAX too.

And, if any team spends $25k, they mismanaged. Paint for the year should only cost about $4-5k (20 case/match). If you win the league, you double your money atleast.

Either way…the only thing I don’t like is that Arsenal took so long to decide. They should have known at least by event 2 or 3.

  7. Tyler says:

God, you people are so selfish. Good paintball players play because they love the game, not because of the prizes. People who play the AXBL don’t give a shit about getting stuff, they care about winning and having fun.

Anyways, Arsenal definitely should have given more warning..I feel bad for the Rhythm guys
