Mutiny picks up new player and guns

mutinyWith the postponing of the second USPL pro event, funds that would have been otherwise committed elsewhere have been freed up for several teams. The mid west pro team, Indianapolis Mutiny, has taken advantage of the opportunity and will be competing at the Chicago Open. Rumor has it that Mutiny has picked up Adam Farej formerly of Chicago Aftershock to wheel into the snake and do damage against reigning champions Aftermath II. Rumors are also circulating that the team has picked up a new set of markers and will be debuting at the Chicago Open event as a DLX team shooting the LUXE marker.

Its no secret that Mutiny had a rough first event, however, with several practices under their belts and some experienced talent on the roster the team has a fighting chance. How do you think the team do in Chicago? Sound off in the comments below!

Your absolutely right, Mutiny against Shock will be an exciting practice. I’ll be sure to get the low down and feature the details in our post-practice report early next week.

Be sure to check back next Monday for the inside scoop.

  2. USPL PRO? says:

Why play semi-pro when they are a pro team

    • Justin says:

Thats a great question. I’m willing to bet the decision was made based on the fact that they are predominantly a 7-man team crossing over and they wanted to test the waters. With 2 or 3 exceptions, the group of teams competing within the PSP Pro ranks are hardcore X-ball teams.

Both the Hurricanes and the Bushwackers (which finished the NPPL last year as top 4 teams) are having a difficult time crossing over into X-ball. Asking a new pro team to do the same may be asking too much.

Give em time boys! Support teams that are making a strong effort in playing as much paintball as possible. At the end of the day – everyone wants to see paintball as a sport succeed.

not allowed to, Pro is locked in PSP, can’t just buy your way in…

considering i was watching their practice on Sunday and they went point for point with d2 unlimited and actually lost a timed match to them, i’m not predicting a hot finish in chicago.

    • Party Pants says:

That doesn’t mean anything. Aftermath II (currently undefeated in semi pro and d1) played against Velocity Wrecking Crew (d2 xball) last weekend and lost a match as well.

Practice is intended for players to try new things and work together as a team. Tournaments are about winning.

      Try it sometime.

      • Naut says:

Good point. In practice your trying out different plays that may or may not work on game day. Thats the point of having a practice. Win or loose in practice doesnt mean shit. Its what you take out of that practice that will make or break the event.

  5. PSP Pro isn't locked says:

If you want in to PSP Pro, and you can demonstrate that your team wouldn’t be a joke in the division, then you can play there.

Unfortunately, Mutiny does not qualify, because paid $10k for USPL to call you Pro doesn’t make you Pro.

    • Naut says:

Funny how this seems to be the “whoopin stick” comment when everyone knows the team members came from OTHER pro teams.

  6. BS PSP PRO says:

All you have to do is pay the entry fee. Just ask Lane he will tell you it is open to anyone that wants to pay the entry fee. PSP is not locked.

  7. Yep says:

Yea you can buy your wayinto the PSP Pro division as well money talks in all leagues.

    • Justin says:

I think its safe to say money talks in most things these days.

It will be interesting to see how Mutiny does at the Chicago event. However, I am hoping to see Mutiny continue to stick it out after and continue on to World Cup. I can only imagine that their first X-ball event will be a challenge for the team (as it would for any 7-man team crossing over) but I have high hopes that this team has what it takes to represent the Mid-West and fight on!

Good luck to Aaron, Tommy, Adam and the rest of the boys!

Joy can play Semi-Pro at Cup…..duh, that doesn’t mean a thing when you say “they are playing Cup”…

    • Justin says:

Insiders are saying there are 13 teams the PSP is considering allowing a 14th into the mix (rumor is Joy) which would make sense as it would really help balance out the bracketing.
