UPDATED: USPL plans to tax event paint

Update from Camille 1/29/2009:
The paint program is still being determined as we are still speaking with the paint companies. The concept was to come up with a different way to charge paint companies so as to make the paint more affordable for the players, and to lower the costs to the paint companies. If we do go forward with this concept, then cases of paint will be made available to the players at $10 cheaper than usual ($35 - $45 per case as opposed to the typical $45 – $55). Not 20% – 25% more expensive as stated in your article.
According to the USPL 2009 budget, the national 7-man league plans to add a $10.00 surcharge per case of paint at the event. The USPL plans to regulate paint sales in an effort to drum up additional revenue to support the new league. Based on 2008 NPPL event paint pricing, a USPL 7-man team is looking at anywhere from a 20-25% increase in paint costs.
From our experience event paint has been mandatory (NPPL Rule 9 .01) and we can anticipate the league will attempt to regulate teams bringing in their own paint by checking gear bags at the gate.

Hhmmmm..interesting.
Let me do the math…I figure that a divisional team uses around 15 cases an event. So 15 x $10.00/box, they make an extra $150.00 from our teams…. Why don’t they just ask us for this up front in our registration fee??
Very weak.
first of all we shot 30 cases of paint to get to the final 4 and thats another ridiculas communist rule,, im definitly not following it, im going to bring my own paint and they can go f themselves
guess my team wont be playing this shitty tournament
we shot 30 cases per event for years, 15 cases? your losing badley, im going to shoot w/e paint i want and im not giving them ish
What about Factory sponsored teams? You know Pro and Semi-Pro teams.
This will definitely sway teams away, I believe
I didn’t hear anything about the price of the paint itself. The price to walk away with a case of paint is what really matters. How about that info? If they were to buy it in enough bulk it might keep paint prices the same.
I can tell you that everything is not set in stone. PSP charges paint companies $65,000 to have their trucks at the events. We will not be charging paint companies to attend. I can assure that the price of paint that you were charged at the PSP last year being $45 and $55 for Draxxus paint will be somewhere in the same ballpark at the USPL
i can assure you my blowhard friend that not one team ever has paid 55 for a case at an event, thats just a retarded way of justifying stupidity like the bps cap, i swear not one guy in charge of these leagues has a clue to what actually goes on,15 cases of paint?? wtf are you talking about? 55 for a case .?? hello earthlings?
This is what you guys get, everyone had to have a 7 man league and couldnt just let things be with one unified league. Nothings ever as good as it seems. Give up on 2 leagues, california get into shape and learn how to play x ball.
This is false information. ProPaintball.com – contact me immediately.
“somewhere in the same ballpark”
Meaning it will be more expensive. Give us one good reason why we should play this league? Right now you dont have any…
lets hear what camille has to say first…relax
your all idiots. you don’t even give it a chance. Then when you find out that youll be spending maybe an extra $150-$200 per team you bitch and cry. Shut up chances are if you were going to actually play the league you still will if you say your not going to now then you probably never were.
This is completely incorrect from what I’ve heard. Like Grimm Reaper said…Let’s hear what Camille has to say first.
I suggest that individuals stop listening to rummers and assumptions. Get the facts and then make a decision.
Is this not a rumor site?
Guys: Please contact Camille. This “paint tax” posting is not correct. You are free to email me directly as you have done in the past if needed. Regards.. Tom
MW hate to break it to you but you are mistaken on the amount of paint in average teams i have played with would use 20-30 cases in prelims and 30 more if all the way to finals
I love how Propaintball.com has been called to principles office by Camille. Just say why the post is so “incorrect”. Doesn’t have to be all secret email business. Your soon to be fledgling league isn’t that important.
for real…if this is a league for the players by the players let everybody know what’s up, you cant play both sides of the fence and expect people to be happy with everything.
Oh snap! Sounds like someone just got told by Camille and Tom!
No they didn’t – it’s one thing to say it’s not true. It’s another thing to say what is true. Why didn’t Camille just say what the real deal with paint will be?
Does that Math not make sense to anybody else? We are going to charge the paint companies $10 bucks per case so that it can be $10 per case cheaper to the players? She didn’t give any reason how this would happen either.
Huh?
Also isn’t Frank involved in the committee? How come he didn’t dispute it and just said it was being talked about?
If you read the words, which i suggest, it sounds like instead of paint companies paying USPL to be there, they are just forced to sell the paint a bit cheaper. Everybody wins.
Here’s the way this works.
USPL buys all the paint from vendors at $25/case.
USPL sells it for $35/case.
But, you end up playing an FPO event.
I understand this is a rumor site, however i will post facts. How much do you guys really like this game we play? I only ask because if you have not noticed companies are dropping like flies and manufacturers still in the game are slimming down to fit the market. The USPL is trying to bring 7 man to the players that wish to play paintball the old fashioned way. Alot of individuals have put in personal money to try and make this work for everyone. One of the issues at hand is that most manufacturers have already budgeted for this season. Whether its sponsorship, advertising, product development, etc. There was no way any of the big players were going to throw money to a new league in 09. The USPL came up with the next best thing, the ability to work with the manufacturers to get their highly requested products (ultra evil, hellfire, XO, Severe, JT paintballs) at a price that does not hurt the manufacturers and allow the league to exist for the players that wish to attend.
This league has a very smart business plan and a lot of people focused on its survival without receiving the payroll of the past series to drain the bank account. Frank is right when he says that the PSP charges $65k for paint trucks, the NPPL did something similar. The manufacturers were not going to pay this this season. So now as a member of the USPL, you have paint pricing as members at a discount (less than MAP in most cases), and an opportunity to make a large payday for competing and winning/placing. I suggest that if you own a business and want rebates from these vendors to offset costs, that you contact your sales rep and start giving them the line share of your business. This can be your sponsorship. Thanks for your time.
its not a big deal really paintball is an expensive sport and if you wanna play in a big event you follow the rules.
